London, United Kingdom – 27 November 2025 — Lúnasa Space is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the UK Space Agency’s Space Ecosystem Commercialisation Programme (SECP), delivered via Space South Central. The Sprint R&D grant will fuel the next stage of development for our pioneering “Cosmic Labs” orbital platform.
Cosmic Labs is designed to drastically reduce the barrier for space‑technology developers to test and validate their payloads in orbit. By offering a shared satellite platform capable of hosting multiple advanced payloads simultaneously, Lúnasa enables companies to “rideshare” their hardware, dramatically lowering individual mission costs and accelerating time‑to‑orbit compared with building dedicated satellites.
The funding will support Lúnasa as it works toward becoming mission-ready by the end of 2026, hosting three UK payloads and enabling home‑grown space companies to validate their technologies in orbit.

Backed by Space South Central, the SECP grant will also enable Lúnasa to expand its presence and capabilities in the UK’s South‑East space ecosystem, investing in technical facilities including cleanrooms and environmental testing labs, and hiring additional engineering and operations staff.
This announcement marks an important milestone for Lúnasa Space and for the UK’s nascent in‑space services and manufacturing sector. By lowering the cost and risk associated with orbital demonstration, Cosmic Labs advances the vision of a sustainable, collaborative in‑space economy, and strengthens the UK’s position as a leader in space innovation.
