Job summary:
We are looking for a confident engineer who can display a strong balance of technical acumen and stakeholder management skills. The Graduate Mechanical Engineer should have the academic background and some practical knowledge of satellite and space components mechanical and thermal design and analysis, and some levels of assembly, integration, and testing. The person for this role must have a general knowledge of current mechanical and thermal software tools like CAD modeling, Nastran/Patran, ANSYS, MATLAB, etc.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical and thermal engineering of satellite structure and components
  • Familiarity with a CAD package for both modelling and drawing, ideally Solidworks or similar.
  • Be able to write system requirements for mechanical and thermal work packages
  • Be involved (and potentially direct) the Verification & Validation (V&V) campaign of the mechanical and thermal systems
  • Support the operation of the GNC during rendezvous proximity operations and docking missions
Essential Experience:
  • Knowledge and understanding of space systems, including space environment effects on thermal and mechanical behaviour of satellite and hardware.
  • Understanding of a range of machining methods and processes used for manufacture of components
  • Understanding of V&V processes used for Mechanical and Thermal systems
  • A basic understanding in general programming/scripting e.g., Python, Java, C/C++.
  • Excellent technical communication skills (written/verbal)

Education and work experience:

The ideal candidate must have a relevant degree in Engineering disciplines.
